They can label in different ways e.g. name of or who lives or would stay there. Sheet 2 has 12 sentences and children can read these and find out which habitat or home each sentence refers to e.g. A place loved by spiders but hated by flies would refer to the Web. Sheets 3 and 4 are word banks showing 12 words on each such as names of pictures on sheet 1 or ideas for who might stay or live at each place e.g. the Royal family may live in the Castle. Sheet 5 is a colouring and labelling sheet showing 10 homes or habitats.

The first page is great for discussion and for children to indicate if the pictures show animals or plants (or parts of). Here is a PPT depicting 7 types of trees. Each slide has a photograph, a leaf and a few facts about the tree. The activity sheets are for recognising the leaves, labelling and colouring. Change the facts or make them more in depth depending on your audience. Extend by taking a field trip and identifying trees in your school grounds or local park / woodland. Collect leaves for in class activities such as leaf prints and observational drawings. Also, bark rubbings are quite nice to do on location.

This is an activity where children collect up objects and test them with magnets to see if they are magnetic. There is a poster showing a collection of objects for testing and a template poster for you or the children to use to draw or write in. You could use a kitchen drawer divider to make your collections in for testing. There is a collection of 18 pictures of everyday objects that children can collect and test. The pictures can be cut out and used for sorting, pasting and discussion. There are 2 recording sheets, 1 where the children can make lists and 1 for children to paste the pictures onto under the headings YES and NO.
